National Water Safety Month takes place annually each May, and is proclaimed as a joint effort of the World Waterpark Association, the American Red Cross, the National Recreation and Park Association and the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance.

Here in Saranac Lake and in all of the surrounding Adirondack area's we are blessed with beautiful mountain lakes, ponds, rivers, and waterways. We are very excited to see all of our residents and visitors enjoying all the water has to offer. Having said that, it is our job to be concerned for your safety, and we ask all to be as safety conscious as possible while near or on any of these waterways.

Your SLVFD and the SLVFD's "Dive Rescue and Recovery Team" are very committed to training and being prepared to respond when water emergencies occur. Water incidents unfortunately happen each year, tragically, all to often lives are lost unnecessarily due to carelessness or simply not wearing a life jacket (PFD).

Please take a moment to review the rules in the attached photo's and follow the links below for more useful information.
