The SLVFD is getting in the Christmas spirit. Upcoming are two annual traditions that we need you to mark your calendars for.

The Holiday Helpers Toy Drive is Saturday November 30th, 2024, and the

The Lighted Fire Truck "Santa Parade" is Friday December 6th, 2024. (Note: See attached entry form)

First up is our annual Holiday Helpers Toy Drive:

Holiday helpers is a great organization that helps families in need by ensuring children have a great holiday and no child goes without presents.

We ask any and all who are able to please make a donation of an unwrapped present for a child in need.

For many years the SLVFD has hosted a drop off place and time for your generous donation of unwrapped toys and delivered them to the Holiday Helpers who in turn deliver them to the families.

It is truly heartwarming to watch the toys roll in and the pile of toys grow bigger and bigger. Our community is very special!!!

On Saturday November 30th our doors will be open from 10:00am to 2:00pm to receive the presents. During this time firefighters will be on hand decorating the fire house. Your firefighters as well as representatives from the Holiday Helpers Organization will be visiting with those who stop by. Holiday Helpers is extremely grateful for all donations.

Up Next, The Lighted Fire Truck "Santa" Parade:

Sponsored by the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, The Village of Saranac Lake, and the Women's Civic Chamber.

On Friday December 6th The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department will be joined by multiple fire departments, and other first responder agencies as well as other businesses and organizations who will decorate their vehicles to escort Santa to Berkley Square where Santa will light the Christmas tree at Berkley Green. Following the tree lighting Santa will proceed to the Public Library where he will visit with area children.

At Berkley Green there will be music/sing along, hot cocoa and a bonfire.

There is fierce competition between the parade entrants to win the coveted "Mayors Cup" for the best decorated vehicles. In the Fire Truck Category the winning department takes home a trophy, which is similar to the Stanley Cup as it lists all the previous years winners. The winning department gets its name inscribed on the cup and retains the cup for the year until the following Christmas it passes to the new reigning champion.

Please see the attached flyer for times and specific details of the evenings events.
