After several days of preparation the SLVFD was officially dispatched on 6 December 2024 at approximately 18:00hrs by North Pole Command to escort Santa through the Village of Saranac Lake to assist him in lighting the village Christmas tree at Berkley Square and ensure safe passage following that event to the Saranac Lake Public Library where Santa visited and took photographs with area children.

Considering the gravity and the scale of this operation the SLVFD immediately requested mutual aid from multiple Fire, EMS, and Police agencies, and area businesses and organizations quickly converged on Saranac Lake and assisted in the operation.

All kidding aside the SLVFD was honored and has lots of fun with this event. Co-hosted along with the Village of Saranac Lake and the Saranac Lake Women's Civic Chamber.

A special shout out to the winner the best decorated first responder apparatus, The Duane Volunteer Fire Company. The Mayors Cup for the best decorated in the Business Category goes to Pole 339.5 Fuel.

We would like to thank all the participants, hosts, and of course the people and children of our community who make this event so much fun.

Your SLVFD wishes you a very safe and Merry Christmas and Holiday Season.
